Wool Skirting Workshop
April 12, 2015 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
$25Sunday, April 12th from 10-Noon
at Carol Johnson Collins’ place in So. Duxbury, Vermont fee is $25.00 per person
(Bring your lunch if you plan to attend the afternoon spinning introduction workshop from 1-4 PM)
Each participant or farm should bring one or two fleeces. We will begin by skirting one from each individual or farm. If time allows we can do a second one. If someone doesn’t have a fleece, that’s no problem! The purpose of the workshop is not to skirt fleeces, but to learn how to skirt a fleece. Once you have learned this, you will know it for a lifetime. I want to talk about the uses for every single bit of the fleece (no matter how bad the fleece is); parts can become compost, parts can become a mulch under shrubs, some can become a stuffing for pillows, balls, toys, ornaments, pin cushions, sections can be used to create ‘Manure Tea’, some can be to spun “in the grease”, some can be washed/carded/and hand-spun, and some can be sent away to be processed. Of course one of the purposes of learning to properly skirt a fleece is to raise the value of the fleece for competition, or for sending to The Wool Pool.
To register, call or e-mail Carol (contact info above). To reserve your place, mail a check made out to: Carol Collins for $25.00.
(If you want to participate in both classes, indicate that, and send a check for $50.00. It’s a $10.00 savings!)
