Hildene, The Lincoln Family Home, is the 412 acre Manchester estate of presidential son, Robert Lincoln. This home to 3 generations of Abraham and Mary Lincoln’s descendants is a historic site, with deep agricultural roots from the past, but committed to putting new roots, literally and figuratively, in the good earth for the future. Its 21st century solar powered goat dairy is home to a herd of Nubians and a state of the art publically viewed cheese-making facility. A flock of Corriedale sheep graze alongside alpacas and Randall cattle in the Dene Farm meadow by the Battenkill. Corriedale is a dual purpose breed that produces high quality meat and a dense uniform fleece. In keeping with its sustainable agricultural practices, these animals live well and provide food, fiber, and products available for purchase in The Museum Store.
