Community of St. Mary / St. Mary’s on-the-Hill Cashmere

Greenwich, NY

The Community of St. Mary is the oldest American monastic foundation in the Anglican/Episcopal Church with houses in Greenwich, NY, and Luwinga, Malawi, Africa. Their convent and St. Mary’s on-the-Hill farm are located adjacent to Christ the King Spiritual Life Center, a Christian conference center owned and run by the Episcopal Diocese of Albany.

The sisters raise award-winning cashmere goats to sell as breeding stock and to produce fine cashmere yarn and roving. They also spin locally-purchased wool, and do fiber and other arts as just one aspect of their larger life of prayer, service and ministry.
